Mayor & City Council
September 9, 1994
Page 2
given the limited right -of -way on Australian, a 40 foot radius
cul -de -sac may be an option to consider. On Bluwood, a 50 foot
radius cul -de -sac could be accommodated given the 100 foot right -
of -way which exists.
I would recommend that we pursue cul -de -sac construction as
previously discussed with a 50/50 cost arrangement between the
City and Mr. Tima. I propose there to be no assessments to other
properties at this time given the nature of the improvement.
When the streets are ultimately re- constructed, assessments would
be levied against all affected property owners and the City's
share of project costs should, in theory, be less.
To proceed further with this matter, I would like input and
direction from the City Council. This issue deals with
considerations relative to cost apportionment between the City
and Mr. Tima, impact of cul -de -sac design on existing
neighborhoods, and acquisition of right -of -way from private
property owners. You may also have other ideas as to how to
proceed. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions.
JRH:kpv
Enclosures
Page 24
