MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
DECEMBER 7, 1994
CUP FOR TWO
FREESTANDING
PYLON SIGNS -
RICE AT C
CENTER
Mr. Carson recommended approval of the property
division for 95 Woodlyn Avenue as presented by Mr. Holm
subject to compliance with the recommendations of the
City Planner as contained in his December 1, 1994
report.
Motion seconded by Schletty.
Motion carried 4 - 0.
Bob Petroff appeared before the Commission requesting
approval of a Conditional Use Permit to allow a
second free - standing sign at the Rice At C Shopping
Center. Petroff reported that he is proposing to
move the existing pylon to an area east of the driveway
on County Road C. That pylon would then be replaced
with a new, larger sign. Petroff reported that a
similar request had been approved for the previous
owners of the shopping center, and the Sign Ordinance
had been amended at that time. Petroff reported that
the pylons would meet the City's sign ordinance
requirements.
The City Planner reported that the Sign Ordinance had
always allowed a second pylon sign in certain
situations. The ordinance was amended a couple of
years ago to include standards for the second sign.
Davison asked if the signs would be illuminated.
Petroff replied that they would be internally
illuminated. The new pylon which will be constructed
on Rice Street will be approximately 2 feet wider than
the existing sign and will be within the 25 foot height
limitation. Again, the existing pylon on Rice Street
will be moved to County Road C to an area just east of
the driveway.
Mr. Schletty recommended approval of a Conditional Use
Permit to have two free - standing signs at The Rice At C
Shopping Center as requested by Bob Petroff based on
the findings as outlined by the City Planner in his
report dated December 1, 1994.
Motion seconded by Carson.
Motion carried 4 - 0.
2
Page 7
