515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
December 14, 1994
TO: Mayor Hanson and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Administrative Assistant
RE: Park & Recreation Commission
Term Rotation
MA YOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
As you are aware, the terms of the seven member Park & Recreation
Commission are on a 1/3/3 rotation schedule. The Commission has
reviewed this rotation schedule at the request of the City
Council, and is recommending that one of the three terms which
will be up for appointment next year be shortened to a two year
term. One method to achieve this rotation schedule would be by
having the person receiving the fewest number of votes in the
appointment process receive the two year term. In case of a tie,
a drawing could be held to determine the two year term. Other
options are also available. This will result in a term rotation
of 2/2/3.
Staff would ask that the City Council ratify the Commission's
recommendation. The process could be finalized now or in 1995
during the next appointment cycle.
Page 98
