the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department as well as
expediting the flow of information to the appropriate
source. This could lend to a significant reduction of
Sheriff's Department personnel being involved with ALP.
Lieutenant Shanley will also evaluate the possibility
of having ALP commence report writing as soon as
possible for all situations to ease some of the burden
on the Sheriff's Department. They will meet the week
of March 14, 1994 to discuss this further.
2. Transportation issues will be discussed with the
Sheriff's Departments from the counties in which
students originate. The potential to have them assist
in transportation will be evaluated.
3. The City Administrator will contact the Sheriff's
Department to get a report of the other 67 calls
originating from the Capitol View site. Further
evaluation will be done on these calls to see if other
options exist for minimizing Sheriff's Department
intervention in unnecessary situations.
4. 916 will keep open the possibility of reimbursing the
City for costs associated with the Sheriff's Department
involvement at the Capitol View facility. This will be
reviewed in the future after implementing some of the
initial ideas.
All in all, the meeting seemed to be very productive and
informative. 916 officials were very cooperative and displayed a
strong interest in working with the City and the Sheriff's
Department to achieve mutually beneficial objectives. Mayor
Hanson and Council Member LaValle may wish to comment further on
this matter at Wednesday's meeting.
Page 60
