Joel R. Hanson
November 12, 2013
Page 2
mechanical or electrical systems, or checking for asbestos, lead paint, oil tanks, or other
hazardous materials.
3. Perform cursory structural and schematic design review to identify up to two options (and order
of magnitude opinions of cost) for adapting the facility for reuse as a salt storage facility.
4. Prior to preparing our final letter report, meet with appropriate public works and administrative
staff to review our findings. if additional investigation is requested by the City beyond the scope
requested herein, the scope and cost will be agreed to in advance and the work will commence as
soon as possible.
5. Prepare and submit a letter report to respond to the questions posed in the City's RFP.
a. For example, if our analysis indicates that the existing building may be too lightly constructed
to facilitate active salt storage without some adaptations, in our report we will identify
suggestions on alternative means of reinforcing or adapting its current configuration to meet
your needs and identify an order of magnitude cost estimate.
6. We propose to perform the site visit, review, meet with staff, and prepare a letter report outlining
the findings, for the lump sum fee of $2200 due upon submittal of invoice.
Mr. Hemstad is available to begin this work upon authorization. We anticipate being able to deliver the
report within 7 working days of authorization, except that if authorization is given after November 18, we
will need three working days after the Thanksgiving holiday for final report submittal.
If this proposal is acceptable, we will consider this an agreement between us upon your authorization on
the space below and returning a copy to us.
Sincerely,
SHORT ELLIOTT HENDRICKSON INC.
Michael Henstad, PE
Structural Engineer
c: JeffJohnson, SEH
Authorized by the City of Little Canada:
Michael Kraeme , PE
Principle
Name
1.1spr \nscra\ hcroslad \liulc Canada ins; ion proposal 11- 11- 13.docx
Title Date
