County Road B • Maplewood MN 55109 • ph: 612/777 -3665 <br />MAJOR WORK PROGRAM ACTIVITIES PROPOSED FOR 1996 <br />The Steering Committee for the Phalen Watershed Project proposes <br />to continue to serve local communities and improve the quality of <br />natural resources through the following activities with local <br />governments , businesses, citizaens and organizations: <br />Establish a local Natural Resources Board for the <br />Watershed - the board will serve local communities by <br />implementing projects that improve natural resources, acting as <br />a forum for technical information and citizens discussion of <br />resource issues, providing public education on local natural <br />resources, and by serving as a consultant to local governments <br />in developing and reviewing policies and projects at their request. <br />The Board will be able to assist cities with finding technical <br />assistance and developing recommendations on natural resources <br />issues at your request during 1996. <br />Continue to coordinate, implement, and find funding for <br />local projects, including: <br />Construction and Monitoring of the Innovative Stormwater <br />Project in Maplewood <br />Construction and Planting of the Phalen Wetland Project <br />and Sackett Creek enhancements in St. Paul <br />North St. Paul Sod Farm Project design and Implementation <br />Complete watershed analysis and work with Round Lake <br />Association in Little Canada on water quality <br />improvements in the lake. <br />White Bear Lake Veterans Park Shoreline Planting <br />H.B. Fuller Company Willow Lake Preserve Management <br />activities in Vadnais Heights <br />Complete landscape design and management plans for two <br />large open space sites in Maplewood, based on policies <br />developed in 1995. <br />Page 9 <br />
