515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 4538
September 8, 1995
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel R. Hanson, City Administrator
RE: 1996 Preliminary Levy
MAYOR
Michael 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
At the September 7th budget workshop, a 1996 preliminary levy
amount of $1,230,023 was presented. This amount would increase
the net levy by 4.59 %.
At that same workshop, the Council discussed decreasing the
preliminary net levy amount so that the increase would be in the
3.0% to 3.5% range. In order to achieve a 3.5% increase, cuts in
the amount of $13,400 would have to be made. $19,500 in cuts are
needed to reach a 3.0% net levy increase. In reviewing the
information presented, the Council made cuts of approximately
$8,200 thus far.
I will continue to review the proposed budget document to
determine if there are additional expenditures which can be
reduced or revenues which can be increased. I will have a
recommendation for the Council's consideration at Wednesday's
meeting.
Page 132
