MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
AUGUST 10, 1995
of regulation. Based on that reaction, the Planner
suggested that he draft some proposed ordinances for
further review.
Carson asked if the City would have the ability to
regulate things like roof design.
The Planner replied that the City could regulate roof
slopes and building bulk. These are objective reviews
with the Building Inspector deciding whether the
conditions of the ordinance are being met.
Garske pointed out that for an industrial -type
building, the City controls land area, landscaping,
etc. Therefore, some architectural controls already
exist.
Keis asked if these controls would be put in place for
every district.
The City Planner replied that the City can decide what
level of control it wants to put in place. Controls
can be imposed on selected districts or even sections
of districts.
Carson pointed out that there are building material
controls in place for the I -P District.
Garske felt that the controls were important for the
Rice Street redevelopment district. He did not believe
such controls should be imposed in the Industrial
District.
It was the consensus of the Commission that
architectural design review be imposed on the Rice
Street redevelopment area. The Planner suggested that
he draft an ordinance for the Commission to review at
its next meeting.
2570 Mr. and Mrs. Wahlberg appeared before the Commission
JACKSON - asking if it would be possible to store their over -
WAHLBER ' sized vehicle at 2570 Jackson Street if they raise the
roof of the existing garage so the truck can be parked
inside.
The Planner pointed out that there is a maximum height
limitation on residential garages of 15 feet.
