209.070. PROBATIONARY PERIOD. <br />(A) The probationary period shall be regarded an integral <br />part of the terms and conditions of employment. It is defined as a <br />period of time of active employment of a regular or permanent part <br />time employee during which his /her supervisor and /or City Council <br />shall be the judge of his /her fitness and ability to satisfactorily <br />perform the work he /she is assigned. <br />(B) All original appointments as a regular or permanent <br />part time employee shall be subject to an initial probationary <br />period of six months, during which time said employee shall be <br />defined as a probationary employee and during which time an <br />employee may be disciplined or dismissed by the City without <br />recourse. Upon completion of the initial probationary period, a <br />written evaluation of the employee's performance shall be filed by <br />such employee's supervisor with the City Clerk. <br />(C) All promotions shall be subject to a six (6) month <br />probationary period. If the employee who has been promoted is <br />found unsuited for the work of the position to which promoted, such <br />employee may be reinstated to the position and rate of pay <br />previously held or to some other position in the class from which <br />such employee was promoted. <br />209.080. POSITION CLASSIFICATION. The City Clerk shall <br />establish and maintain a position classification plan for all <br />positions covered by the provisions of this ordinance. All <br />positions shall be grouped in classes, each having a definite range <br />of - difficulty and responsibility. When a new position is created <br />for which no appropriate position classification exists, or when <br />the duties of an existing position are sufficiently changed so that <br />no appropriate class exists, the City Clerk shall create a new <br />class and cause an appropriate position classification to be <br />written for said class. All position classifications are subject <br />to review and approval by the City Council. <br />209.090. OVERTIME. <br />(A) City Clerk and Building Official. These employees <br />are exempt from overtime requirements except as provided herein. <br />No overtime compensation shall be paid to the City Clerk and <br />Building Official, but such employees shall be entitled to <br />compensatory time off on a straight time basis for each hour worked <br />in excess of forty (40) hours per week. <br />(B) Superintendent of Public Works.
