(H) Where vacations are specified in days, it shall be <br />construed to mean the normal eight (8) hour working day, and where <br />any employee works other hours or shifts, adjustments shall be made <br />accordingly.. - <br />(I) Any employee who is laid off or who leaves the <br />municipal service in good standing after giving two weeks notice of <br />such termination of employment, shall be compensated for vacation <br />leave accrued and unused prior to the date of lay off or <br />termination. Any employee who is dismissed during a probationary <br />period or for just cause shall not be entitled to any - vacation <br />credit. <br />(J) Vacation leave shall not be granted in less than <br />one -half day increments. <br />209.120. SICK LEAVE. <br />(A) Full time employees shall accrue sick leave benefits <br />at the rate of one working day • -for each calendar month of <br />employment or major fraction thereof. Permanent part time <br />employees shall accrue sick leave benefits based on the average <br />number of hours worked per week by such employee and in accordance <br />with the following schedule: <br />Average Hours Worked <br />Rate of Sick Leave Accrual <br />Per Calendar Month <br />Less than 20 0 <br />20 - 23 1/2 Day <br />24 or more - 3/5 Day <br />Sick leave pay shall be computed at the regular rate of pay to <br />which such employee is entitled.— Sick leave shall not be granted <br />to temporary employees. <br />(B) Sick leave may be accumulated to a maximum of one <br />hundred twenty (120) days. <br />(C) Sick leave may be granted only for absence from duty <br />due to an illness or injury of the employee which disables him /her <br />from working. However, up to three (3) days sick leave may be <br />granted in case of death in the immediate family, i.e., spouse, <br />parents, spouse's parents, children, brothers, and sisters, <br />brothers -in -law, and sisters -in -law, and grandparents. Employees <br />may use two (2) days of their annual sick leave in hourly <br />increments for doctor or dentist appointments for their own medical <br />and dental health care. <br />(D) Employees who are absent from work and are being paid <br />worker's compensation insurance benefits shall be considered to be <br />working for the purpose of accumulating additional vacation leave <br />or sick leave for up to three (3) months of absence from work.
