i <br />SECTION 24 <br />SIGNS <br />(g) <br />VAdlua.5 ylfl <br />Signs which contain any offensive or indecent picture or message. <br />(10 Banners, pennants. and balloons. <br />(1) Portable signs except as allowed in Sec. 24.050(6) or 24.060(3). <br />24.040. Residential Districts. <br />(1) Nameplate Signs: One sign for each dwelling unit, not greater than two square feet in area, <br />indicating the name and/or address of the occupant. <br />(2) Institutional and Recreational Signs: One sign or bulletin board per street frontage for a public <br />institutional use; for a recreational use in residential districts such sign or bulletin board shall not exceed 32 <br />square feet in area, nor shall it be placed closer than ten feet to any edge of property line, nor shall it be placed <br />in a location that would interfere with the safe movement of traffic. <br />(3) Area Identification Signs: One sign per each major development not to exceed 32 square feet <br />in area. The location must not interfere with the safe movement of traffic. <br />(4) Temporary Signs: According to 24.030. <br />(5) Maximum Height of Freestanding Signs: Eight feet. <br />(6) Lighting: Lighting must be designed to prevent nuisance or safety hazards. (See Section <br />24.030(3)). <br />24.050. Neighborhood Commercial District (C -1). <br />(1) Wall Signs: The total area of all wall signs affixed to a building wall shall not exceed 10 <br />percent of the total area of that wall. No individual wall sign shall exceed 40 square feet. <br />(2) Freestanding Signs: One freestanding sign per shopping center or isolated commercial <br />establishment is permitted. The total area of this sign shall not exceed 50 square feet per side and its maximum <br />height shall not exceed 16 feet. <br />(3) <br />Temporary signs: Permitted according to Section 24.030(14). <br />(4) Traffic directional signs. <br />(5) Bulletin Signs: Non - portable bulletin signs may have individual face areas of up to 25 square <br />feet or 50 percent of the area of the face of the business' identification sign, whichever is less. Freestanding <br />bulletin signs are to be no closer than 8 feet to the ground. <br />(6) Portable signs: Portable bulletin signs are allowed for up to 30 days per year per business. <br />Such signs are allowed by permit only and a refundable deposit of 550. Such signs must be removed on the day <br />indicated on the permit, or the deposit will not be refunded. Such signs must be set back at least 15 feet from <br />the curb line or edge of the paved roadway, or as determined by the Code Enforcement Officer or Building <br />Inspector. <br />24.060. Community Commercial District (C -2). <br />(1) Wall Signs: Each building or each individual tenant in a multiple -tenant building may have a <br />wall sign which does not exceed 15 percent of the area of the wall to which it is attached.
