MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 1, 1991
36 foot width. The extra width could be used for
parking for special occasions.
Collova agreed and suggested that the extra width would
be a good bike traffic area.
The Engineer pointed out that the cost would be
relatively low to go with a 36 street width versus 32
feet.
Blesener felt that anyone buying the lots along DeSoto
would prefer that the street be posted no parking in
order to avoid congestion.
LaValle asked if Lot 3, which is proposed to be a part
of Phase II, would be better faced toward DeSoto rather
than Costa Lane.
The City Engineer reported that Mr. Costa feels the lot
will be more valuable facing Costa Lane.
LaValle suggested that the parking lot be sized to
accommodate park users.
Scalze pointed out that this has already been done, and
it was pointed out that the park development on the
east is more passive use, with ballfields oriented
toward the west.
Hartman stated that he would like to see a stop sign
installed at the corner of Allen and DeSoto Streets, as
well as a street light in that same area.
The City Engineer discouraged installation of a stop
sign until the improvement is completed and it can be
determined if a stop sign is warranted. The City
Engineer suggested that a cross -walk could be
installed, and agreed that a street light may be
needed.
It was also pointed out that once Desoto Street is
improved, the 3 -way stop at DeSoto and LaBore would be
changed to a 4 -way stop.
Council consensus was that the Public Works
Superintendent look at the installation of a street
light in the area of DeSoto and Allen Avenue.
Hanson suggested that the Park Commission look at a
possible location of a crosswalk on Centerville Road to
get pedestrians from the west side of Centerville Road
over to Pioneer Park.
Page 8
