MINUTES <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />FEBRUARY 6, 2014 <br />DONATION City received the money in November of 2013. McGinnity suggested that <br />TO SPOONER the Commission give some consideration as to how to use this money, and <br />PARK indicated that the matter will be scheduled for discussion at the next <br />Commission meeting. <br />The City Clerk reported that Mrs. Broecher was a neighbor and that she <br />was an avid gardener. <br />BALLFIELD McGinnity reported that work will commence on revising the Ballfield <br />USAGE Usage Policy, and a draft will be presented to the Commission at an <br />POLICY upcoming meeting. Miller volunteered to serve on the committee that is <br />working on this issue. Fahey indicated that she would step aside so that <br />Miller could serve on this committee. <br />56 LITTLE McGinnity indicated that the for -sale sign is still posted at 56 Little <br />CANADA Canada Road, although it is her understanding that a potential purchaser <br />ROAD of this property has contacted the City with a proposed development. The <br />City Clerk reported that this is correct, and it is unclear as to whether or <br />not the property has been sold. Maida asked about the City's purchase of <br />this site as an expansion to Veterans Memorial Park. The Clerk indicated <br />that the City Administrator had contacted the realtor for this property; <br />however, the realtor had not wanted to negotiate a price below the listing <br />price. <br />FIRE McGinnity reported that the construction manager for the Fire Barns <br />BARNS Warming I °louse Project is taking bids for the project and will be <br />WARMING making a recommendation to the Council on bid awards at an upcoming <br />HOUSE meeting. <br />PROJECT <br />LCRA Heikke reported that LCRA's 3`d Annual Ice Fishing Contest was a huge <br />FISHING success with 550 participants, which is over 150 more than last year. In <br />CONTEST conjunction with the Ice Fishing Contest, the Little Canada Fire <br />Department held a booya, which also proved very successful. Maida <br />reported that after consuming numerous bowls of booya, he reached the <br />conclusion that the booya was amazing. <br />Heikke reported that LCRA is still compiling information on the contest, <br />but estimated the profits will exceed last year's. He indicated that the <br />monies raised are used by LCRA to fund youth athletics and various parks <br />projects in the City. <br />3 <br />
