MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
APRIL 13, 1995
affected property owners and the City Administrator to
try to come up with a workable solution. However, it
has not been possible to resolve the issue.
Keis pointed out that either way - street or cul -de -sac
- a variance is required. Keis reported that he has
talked to the Magnuson's and they are interested in an
improvement that will allow school buses to come down
the street. The improvement of Jackson Street would
allow that as well as improve access for service
vehicles. However, the Tima lots would be small and
narrow. Keis pointed out that a cul -de -sac at the end
of Bluwood would work, but it doesn't appear that a 30-
foot paved radius cul -de -sac at the end of Australian
would significantly improve access for service
vehicles.
Knudsen felt that traffic was not an issue since either
option would not increase traffic in the area.
Keis stated that he would assume that the Jackson
Street easement has existed for quite some time and
that the property owners in the area were aware of the
potential for a street.
Kajalski pointed out that Mr. Tima could not petition
for a cul -de -sac improvement since there are other
property rights involved other than his own.
Knudsen pointed out that the street option does not
take property away from property owners who do not want
to give it up.
Keis pointed out that the street improvement will
result in the Tima lots being narrow. Keis stated that
if access is provided via the street improvement, he
would not look favorably on a request for a variance on
those lots.
Knudsen pointed out that there is currently the
potential to divide a buildable lot from the Morelan
property, and that remains true if either option is
pursued.
Steve Morelan replied that that was correct.
Fred Schletty stated that he was not in favor of
building a substandard cul -de -sac on a substandard
4
Page 29
