515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Dave Harris, Public Works Superintendent
DATE: May 18, 1995
RE: Nuisance Abatement Ordinance
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scaize
Jim LaValle
Steve Mercian
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R Hanson
As you may remember, staff has been working on trying to amend
the nuisance ordinance so that we may minimize Council
involvement. After discussing this at length with the City
Attorney, the following changes are what the Attorney is
recommending:
The main changes are in maximum time of removal which
changes from 30 days down to 10 days. Non - compliance will
be reported to the City Administrator instead of the City
Council. However, the Council will still have to order the
abatement which can be done on the consent agenda.
Another change would be for re- couping the fees and the
administrative costs. It is no longer considered a special
tax. However, the City can certify collection to the county
auditor in the same manner as taxes and special assessments.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at your
earliest convenience.
DBH:kpv
Page 60
