The walk will be lined with benches and will provide opportunities for <br />future memorials or interpretive features. <br />o Parking: The City of Little Canada will provide three (3) accessible parking spaces <br />adjacent to the site. Additional parking is available nearby. <br />o Landscaping: Trees, shrubs and flowers will be planted to complement each <br />portion of the Memorial and the site. <br />o Picnic Tables: A local youth group will be constructing a picnic table and pad this <br />summer, adjacent to the Memorial, as part of an Eagle Scout project. <br />• Will the work of local artists be incorporated into the memorial? If so, please provide more <br />details on the artist(s), examples of their work, and describe how their work will be incorporated <br />in the memorial, — Local artist, Dan Ryan, is a member of the Little Canada Veterans Memorial <br />Committee and is providing input on the design of the Memorial and the incorporation of <br />local artists into the project. Dan Ryan is a Vietnam Veteran whose work has been exhibited <br />throughout the Twin Cities. Other local artists will participate in the design of the main <br />inemorial stone and the memorial to "War Dogs" which will be part of the Memorial Site. <br />• Will local community members or veterans be involved in any part of the memorial process? If <br />so, please provide more details on how they will be involved. — The momentum for a veterans <br />memorial in the City of Little Canada came from a group of interested residents and veterans <br />who wanted to honor those who served our Country. This effort was formally recognized by <br />the City of Little Canada and a committee was formed to define the project and select a site. <br />The Committee is well represented by veterans, historical society, park commission, residents, <br />business community, artists and City leadership.) the committee has made a great deal of <br />progress in the past two (2) years, having generated widespread support and input from the <br />community, through numerous public meetings, newsletter articles, cable TV, exhibits at <br />public events such as Canadian Days and fund - raising efforts. The site has been selected and <br />approved, the plans have been completed, fund- raising is more then 50% complete and the <br />project is on schedule to be substantially complete in 2014. <br />• Please provide the name and location of the municipal park in which the memorial will be <br />located. — The site for the Memorial will be a City park (formerly Round Lake Park) that has <br />now been renamed Veterans Memorial Park. This beautiful two (2) acre site overlooking <br />Round Lake has excellent visibility and convenient access, located in the heart of the <br />community. <br />• Provide a description of how the memorial will benefit the community in which the memorial is <br />installed. What assessment method will you use? How will you measure the outcomes?
