MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 9, 2007
CITY CENTER The City Adminishator reported that he will be meeting with R. J.
REPAIRS Marco relative to repairs to the City Center.
HEATHER The City Administrator reported that Ed Dropps is interested in City-
OAKS owned property adjacent to the Heather Oaks development so that he can
develop six additional townhomes on that property. Mr. Dropps is
interested in the City giving him the land. The Administrator reported that
if such a development were feasible, the City would not give the land, but
would sell it at fair market value. He also pointed out any townhome
development would likely have to be similar in appearance to the Heather
Oaks townhomes and become part of their homeowners association. The
Administrator noted from the diagrams provided that there is a small strip
of land that appears to be in limbo and was not part of the land turnback to
the City. The City Council was in agreement, and it was noted that there
may be other developers interested in the property. The City
Administrator noted the problem with other developers is the ownership of
the two outlots.
GOOSE The City Adminish~ator reviewed the proposal submitted by Dr. Cooper
CONTROL for goose control which involves egg destruction in small isolated wetland
areas. The cost would be lower than summer trapping, and if more than
10 geese are found at a location, summer trapping will be done at no
additional cost.
The Council agreed with trying the egg destruction program, and
suggested that this contract be placed on the next Council agenda for
action.
STREET The City Administrator reported that the Public Works Department used
SWEEPING anew salt/sand mix on the streets this winter. As a result, there was less
REPORT street sweeping time needed to clean the sheets, resulting in $2,000 lower
costs than last year's sweeping.
TOWN MEETING The consensus of the Council was that a town meeting would not be held
this year, but the Mayor would present a State of the City address to be
aired on the City's cable channel.
SAVAGE LANE The Administrator reported that he has received several complaints that
SOUND WALL the sound wall on the west side of 35E is causing freeway noise to echo
back over the lower sound wall on the east side of the freeway.
