5. The carpeting throughout the building (council chambers, conference room, office
corridors and corridors within the chambers /lunch room) should be replaced. We
discussed going with carpet tiles, again with some overage for future replacement.
6. Painting existing walls should be looked into. A new paint scheme should be
considered. This may not be 100% easy since much of the building has a "blue" theme.
Consequently, do we paint door frames and other items to give the city hall a new
"look "? More later.
7. We discussed possibly using porcelain tiles with a darker grout color) at the main
lobby, possibly vestibule too, which has quarry tile. Quarry tile needs some minor
work regardless.
8. There are minor cracks in the walls throughout the building. One example of work
done by the CM. Some areas will require taping and installing control joints. See note
A.
Council Chambers:
1. OA is to look into a new backdrop at the back wall, a fresh new design. This might
include the city logo.
2. The wood unit for the tv, to the east, will be replaced. There is a small rise in the floor
that we should deal with once removed.
3. The IT type room ( "cable room ") to the east of the chambers, needs to be looked at
from a heating /cooling standpoint (mostly cooling). This room has an exceptional
amount of equipment. Since there is an outside wall, we discussed installing a split unit
to supplement or replace the existing cooling from the central system.
4. The doors to the chambers need adjustment. Note that these doors, and others, are
wired to the emergency panel. Per today's code, this does not appear to be necessary.
Kitchen:
1. Currently, there is a residential arrangement in this space, and new furniture is to be
considered. This is used as a back -up conference room and staff breaks.
2. The blue VCT flooring may or may not be replaced: just need to keep this on the
radar when discussing re- decorating since this is a minor cost. The floor needs some
work regardless.
2
