MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
May 14, 2014
PUBLIC WORKS -
PARKS
FACILITY
UPDATE
or in-kind donations. It was noted that the design and engineering costs
for this project are not included in the $119,545.
Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2014-5-84 — AUTHORIZING THE PHASE I
VETERANS MEMORIAL PROJECT PROVIDED THAT THE
ENTIRE $119,545 COST ESTIMATED HAS BEEN COMMITTED
FOR AND THESE COMMITMENTS ARE DOCUMENTED
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Rocky Waite, Veterans Committee, appeared before the Council and
reported that the entire process has been a learning experience, one which
he will document someday. He reported on some of his efforts to find
project components as lesser costs than were estimated by the Parks
Consultant. Waite felt that there would be adequate donations coming in
to fund the project.
Waite reported that there has been discussion at the Veterans Committee
meetings about inviting politicians to the Memorial groundbreaking
ceremony. Waite indicated that his position was that this Memorial is for
the Veterans and not political in nature. Therefore, he would like to not
include politicians in the ceremony. Blesener suggested that that decision
would be up to the Committee.
The City Administrator reported that the construction manager for the
Public Works -Parks Facility has obtained quotes for the demolition work
at 2858 Centerville Road. Five competitive quotes were received with the
low quote submitted by Netti Rolloff Services for the base bid and
Alternate I in the amount of $56,780. The Administrator reported that
Alternate I relates to demolition of the house on the property. It may be
that the Fire Department will do a controlled burn of this house; therefore,
Alternative I may or may not be needed. The Administrator reported that
Alternate II included work for removal of asphalt, and it is recommended
that that portion of the work be delayed at this point. The Administrator
reported that Netti performed the demolition at 3046 LaBore Road for the
City and performed well on that project.
14
