MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 11, 2014
indicated that another city has experienced this problem. Stromsodt stated
that he would look at this, but indicated that he did not believe there would
be a problem as there was a stop gap feature proposed.
The next area reviewed was the Lobby Waiting Area - Room 101 &
Corridor 102. There was discussion about the poor condition of the
existing security doors at the front counter, and the need to reorient the
drinking fountain. The Council discussed the conversion of the trophy
case into a media/communication center to better organize and focus these
efforts in the lobby. The entire Council agreed that the trophy case should
be eliminated and the area converted to a media/communication center.
Keis asked about replacement of the front countertop. Stromsodt
indicated that that was not included in the work listing, but indicated that
they would obtain pricing for this replacement.
Conference Rooms A & 13 — Rooms 104 and 105 were discussed. There
was discussion about reupholstering the dividing walls, and Stromsodt
indicated that they would obtain pricing. The City Administrator
indicated that need for rewiring this area so that IP telephony can be
utilized as well as installing a center wiring box in the middle of the floor
for media purposes. There was discussion about the changing out of
lighting, with the Administrator indicated that this has been reviewed, but
given a 13 -year payback for this work, the decision was to retain current
lighting.
The Council Chambers — Room 106 and Cable Room were discussed
next. There was extensive discussion of the options presented for the
Council Chambers wall treatment and City logo installation on the wall.
The Council's preference was for the stone treatment rather than tile.
There were various preferences related to the extent of the stone, and
Dever and Stromsodt will obtain pricing for the various options. It was
the Council's consensus that the City logo should be centered in the
backdrop with the new version of "City of Little Canada" script to be
placed beneath the logo. Stromsodt suggested that the stone used for the
Council backdrop could be incorporated into the lobby media center to tie
the two rooms together. There was discussion about improved lighting of
the Council dais area, with the Council indicating that the lighting should
not be a heat source to those at the dais.
