MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 25, 2014 <br />PIONEER <br />PARK <br />PAVERS <br />CONCRETE <br />WORK— <br />SPOONER <br />UPPER SHELTER <br />& CITY CENTER <br />LC FIRE DEPT. <br />CONTRACT <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener. <br />Ayes (4). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />The City Administrator reviewed the City Engineer's June 20, 2014 report <br />relative to the paver repair work in Pioneer Park at an estimated cost of <br />$27,090 which would include paver replacement, settlement correction <br />and concrete corrections. The low bid for the paver replacement and <br />settlement correction was submitted by Wolderstorfer Contracting in the <br />amount of $17,090.00 and the Engineer estimated another $9,000 to <br />$10,000 for the concrete corrections. <br />Montour asked if the Engineer estimated the cost of replacing the pavers <br />with poured concrete. The Administrator indicated that he did not, and <br />noted that poured concrete would still be susceptible to breaks, cracks, and <br />heaves. Montour requested that the Engineer obtain a price for poured <br />concrete. The Administrator indicated that this price would be obtained <br />and submitted to the Council for review. <br />The Administrator reviewed the City Engineer's June 20th report relative <br />concrete work needed at Spooner Park and at the City Center. With regard <br />Spooner Park, the work needed involves concrete repairs and expansion at <br />the Spooner Park upper shelter. The expansion involves extending the <br />concrete area on the north side of the shelter approximately 10 feet with <br />slight expansions on the east and west. The work at the City Center <br />involves replacement of the entrance area and replacement of drive aisle <br />concrete curb at the entrance with surmountable curb for easier access <br />along the entire entrance. Additionally, some damaged curb and gutter <br />would he replaced. <br />The Administrator indicated that the City Engineer received one quote for <br />this work. He is hoping to have additional quotes within the next few <br />days. The Administrator recommended that the Council act on award of <br />the low quote via email within the next few days and then ratify that action <br />at the July 9th Council meeting. He estimated that the maximum cost of <br />this work at $37,500. <br />The City Administrator reported that the Little Canada Fire Department <br />contract has been extended via two 90 -day extension to give some time to <br />work on the issue of Fire Relief Benefits with the Fire Department. The <br />Administrator reported that he submitted a proposal to the Fire <br />Department officers for their review. A meeting will be scheduled within <br />20 <br />
