MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 25, 2014
ACOSTA
PLANTING
UPDATE
TOWER VALVE
REPLACEMENT
& NOEL DRIVE
SIDEWALK
CONNECTION
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Boss.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The City Administrator noted that the Council previously approved
a landscaping allowance for the Acosta property on LaBore Road that
was agreed to as part of the Pinetree Pond development. He noted that
when he presented the landscaping costs, he miscalculated and presented
only the labor costs. The actual cost of materials and labor are $2,426.
The Administrator reported that additional quotes were obtained, and this
initial quote is the most favorable. The Administrator recommended
award of both labor and materials costs in the amount of $2,426 as
proposed by out Back Nursery & Landscaping.
Boss introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2014-6-116 — AWARDING THE QUOTE OF OUT
BACK NURSERY & LANDSCAPING FOR LANDSCAPING WORK
AT THE ACOSTA PROPERTY AT 2971 LABORE ROAD AS
AGREED TO AS PART OF THE PINETREE PONDS
DEVELOPMENT
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The City Administrator reviewed the City Engineer's report dated
June 25, 2014 outlining the need to replace the water tower valve
located between Noel Drive and the Water Tower as it does not
completely seal. The Engineer is recommending that the tower line
be excavated and a new valve installed. Given the exact depth of the
watermain in this area is unknown, there could be impacts to the existing
retaining walls in this area. Estimated cost could range between $10,000
and $15,000 depending on the amount of disturbance and the location of
the valve installation.
The Administrator then reported that given the possible wall disturbance,
City staff has discussed the need for a sidewalk connection from the Little
Canada Road sidewalk to Gervais Mill Park and the traiL system along
Gervais Creek. The sidewalk would require significant modifications and
additions to the existing retaining walls along Noel Drive. Estimated
22
