Resolution declared adopted.
The City Administrator reviewed the City Engineer's July 9, 2014 report
relative to concrete work at Spooner Park and the City Center. The
Administrator indicated that only one bid was received for this work. He
indicated that given the need to have the work completed at Spooner Park
in time for the Canadian Days Celebration, it is staffs recommendation
that additional quotes be sought for the park shelter work, and the work
awarded at a cost not to exceed $20,761 which is the amount of the one
quote received. The recommendation is also that the City Center work be
delayed. The City Engineer will then attempt to obtain additional quotes
for the City Center work. Those quotes will be brought back to the
Council for action at a later date.
McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2014-7-127 — AUTHORIZING STAFF TO
AWARD THE QUOTE FOR SPOONER PARK CONCRETE WORK IN
ANAMOUNTNOT TO EXCEED $20,761 AS RECOMMENDED BY
THE CITY ENGINEER
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Boss.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The City Administrator reviewed the City Engineer's report dated July 9,
2014 relative to the need to install a new 16" isolation valve between Noel
Drive and the water tower. The current valve is leaking and it is necessary
to replace the valve. The Administrator indicated the goal to have the
valve replaced while the water tower is down for repainting. The
Engineer noted in his report that sufficient room does not exist between
the retaining wall, street, and storm sewer to allow installation of a valve
without significant impact to both retaining walls. Therefore, the
recommendation is that the valve be installed between the second wall and
the water tower. Two quotes were received with the low quote from C.
W. Houle, Inc. in the amount of $24,550. It was noted that final
restoration of the area will be done separate from this contract.
6
