MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
AUGUST 14, 2014
Fischer asked if there would be any rooftop seating, etc. Miranowski
replied that there would not. Fischer asked how many live music events
would be planned. Miranowski replied up to 75 dates and would occur on
weekdays or weekends, whenever groups could be booked.
Murphy stated that the Commission does not have a lot of information.
She felt the pictures presented were beautiful and exciting. Murphy noted,
however, that there is a lot of residential use around the site.
Fischer asked the Commission if their consensus was that the matter
should be tabled for more information.
Murphy indicated that additional information should be provided on how
outdoor sound volumes would be controlled when patrons are exiting the
building. She suggested that elevated sound volumes may exist for 30
minutes, and asked if that was an acceptable amount of time or not. She
also asked what the security people could do to control this sound.
Murphy stated that she would hate to see something denied that might
make this area pop and make it become a more vibrant area. Murphy felt
the parking could be figured out, but felt more information was needed on
how parking would be reserved for existing businesses. Murphy agreed
that more information would help her make a decision.
Maleitzke asked about project timing. Miranowski stated that they would
like to start as soon as possible hoping to be open by New Year's Eve.
Barraclough agreed that a traffic study was needed. Information should be
provided on how to get people in and out of the site, how many people
would be at a live music event under maximum capacity, how many golf
carts would be needed to get security people around the site, how many
security people would be needed, what sort of decibel levels would be
generated. Barraclough stated that he could not make a decision without
this information.
Miranowski indicated that when tickets are sold, they will then know how
many people will he at an event and will hire the appropriate number of
security people for the crowd that is anticipated.
Fischer asked about tabling this matter pending additional information.
The City Planner indicated that the matter could be tabled at the
Commission's discretion, but recommended that a 60 -Day Waiver be
obtained from the applicant. 'Che matter would then be considered by the
Planning Commission and the City Council in September.
- 17 -
