MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 25, 2015 <br />NORTHEAST Jerry Hromatka, President of Northeast Youth & Family Services, <br />YOUTH & appeared before the Council to present the annual organization report. <br />FAMILY He began by providing some background on NYFS which has been in <br />SERVICES existence for 36 years. The organization began when 10 cities came <br />together and pooled dollars to provide services in a collaborative manner. <br />9 of the original cities are still participating, and NYFS currently serves 15 <br />cities. The primary population served by NYFS is 5 to 21 year olds <br />serving over 4,000 youth, families, and individual during 2014. <br />CONSENT' <br />AGENDA <br />Hromatka indicated that NYFS has a $3.2 million annual budget, and the <br />three program areas they provide address mental health, youth <br />development and day treatment. Hromatka then expanded on the service <br />components of each of these program areas. <br />Hromatka reviewed a service summary comparison for 2013-2014 noting <br />that cost of contracted services to Little Canada residents for 2013 was <br />$27,290 and $28,895 for 2014. The cost of non -contracted services was <br />$61,905 for 2013 and $75,350 for 2014. The City contract amounts were <br />$15,109 for 2013 and $15,275 for 2014. <br />Hromatka informed the Council that services are assured for all residents <br />of the participating cities, regardless of an individual's ability to pay. He <br />indicated that NYFS goals for participants are to improve educational <br />attainment, prepare them to be part of an effective workforce and better <br />citizens. Hromatka indicated that the services provided by NYFS result in <br />reduced costs to the public given that negative behaviors are addressed <br />and participants redirected in a positive manner. Hromatka also noted that <br />the support provided by NYFS allows the organization to leverage other <br />resources in the form of grants. <br />Flromatka then discussed current trends and NYFS' response. These <br />trends include evolving health care, achievement gap, the aging <br />population, and the improving economy. <br />Hromatka concluded by acknowledging NYFS partnerships with <br />communities, school districts, collaborations, the faith community, and <br />businesses.
