MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 25, 2015 <br />CALL FOR <br />WORKSHOP <br />WITH <br />SHERIFF'S <br />DEPARTMENT <br />GERVIAS <br />MILL <br />FISHING <br />PIER <br />REPAIRS <br />appraisal and noted that, at this time, the appraisal is still considered to be <br />non-public. He recommended that if the appraisal is provided that the <br />City request the property owner maintain the non-public status of the <br />appraisal until the negotiations for the property are concluded. It was the <br />consensus of the Council to provide the property owners of 56 Little <br />Canada Road East with a copy of the City's appraisal of this property as <br />recommended by the City Administrator. <br />The Administrator noted that the Council recently requested a workshop <br />meeting with representatives of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department <br />to discuss security issues. He indicated that Ty Sheridan from the <br />Sheriff's Department is available on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 6:30 <br />p.m. <br />Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION 2015-2-41— CALLING FORA WORKSHOP <br />MEETING FOR WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 2015, AT 6:30 P.M. TO <br />DISCUSS SECURITY ISSUES WITH THE RAMSEY COUNTY <br />SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis. <br />Ayes (4). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />The Parks & Recreation Director reviewed his February 20, 2015 report <br />relative to the need to repair the two fishing piers in Gervais Mill Park. <br />He noted that after 20 years the wooden decking and railings are in need <br />of replacement. The Director noted that the City has earmarked $10,000 <br />for this repairs as part of the 2015 Capital Improvement budget. He has <br />obtained a quote from James Steele Construction to do these repairs on a <br />time and materials basis, with the estimated cost range from $10,000 to <br />$14,000. <br />The Director indicated that the fishing piers were originally dedicated to <br />the City by the Ramsey -Washington Metro Watershed District as part of <br />the total ponding project in Gervais Mill Park. The Watershed was <br />contacted about participating in the cost of these repairs, but they declined <br />as they feel the piers are now the City's responsibility. <br />The Director reported that given the City's current relationship with James <br />Steele Construction, he is recommending that their quote be awarded.
