• Post maps on the City's website and distribute to local businesses.
• Arrange for a pick-up of left over items. (Note: The Salvation Army has done this hi the
past, but perhaps we would want to offer this opportunity the thrift stores in our
community.)
• Notify the Ramsey County Sheriff of the sale locations to ensure "no parking"
enforcement does not occur.
• Offer an online payment option. (We should be able to do this through the recreation
registration system.)
• Collect returned signs. (Staff has already been doing this.)
Sue informed us that they had 110 involvement during the sale days themselves.
One other consideration we may want to consider is the sale days themselves. I'm told
Thursday's are the typical "garage sale day". However, I'm aware of a couple of communities
that only hold garage sales on one day (Saturday) with Roseville being one of them. This may
offer the opportunity for more customers at each sale event given more people will he off work
on Saturday. (If we think we should pursue this, we could survey past participants to see what
they think if we are uncomfortable making the call.)
Staff would like the Council's opinion/direction on this matter. If we are going to do this, we
need to decide quickly to make our newsletter deadline. I will also be talking with the Parks &
Recreation Director to see what he thinks of this possibility.
cc: Sue Nelson
Jim Morelan, Director of Parks & Recreation
