MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 11, 2015
Fischer stated that he would support City staff taking over the
administration of the sale. Ile reported that during the garage sale in his
neighborhood, the sale turns into a social event for the neighborhood. He
likened the garage sale to Night To Unite which brings neighborhoods
together.
The Administrator reported that Canadian Days has indicated that the
registration fee covers the costs associated with promoting the sale.
Therefore, the only cost to the City will be additional staff time.
It was the consensus of the Council that the City should take on the
administration of the annual City-wide garage sale.
PUBLIC The Public Works Superintendent was present to update the Council on
WORKS the Public Works Facility project. He noted that the first item for
BUILDING discussion is the need to act on the quotes for card access readers and door
PROJECT contacts at the Public Works Facility. The Superintendent reported that
UPDATE Terre Heiser from Roseville IT put together the plans and specs for
installation of card reader access at doors and door contacts for all
overhead doors. This system will serve as the security system at the new
facility along with some strategically placed cameras on the outside of the
building. Four quotes were received with the low quote submitted by
Electro -Watchmen in the amount of $11,600. The budget for the complete
security system is $25,000, and this component is part of that budget.
Staff recommends award of the Electro -Watchmen quote.
Keis asked if card access readers would be installed at the City Center.
The Administrator noted that a different provider monitors the City Center
alarm system. That system was upgraded just a few years ago, so there is
no plan to change to card access readers at this time.
Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2015-3-52 —AWARDING THE QUOTE OF
ELECTRO -WATCHMEN IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,600 FOR CARD
ACCESS READERS AND DOOR CONTRACTS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The Superintendent then reported that approval of a change order is
needed to run gas piping to the radiant heater units in the vehicle storage
13
