MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 11, 2015
area. This piping was inadvertently left off the plans by the mechanical
engineer, and there will be some discussion with that contractor to see if
they are liable for this cost. The cost started out at $10,000, but after some
negotiation, it was revised to $3,515.
McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2015-3-53 — APPROVING A CHANGE ORDER
FOR THE ADDITION OF GAS PIPING TO SERVE THE RADIANT
HEATER UNITS IN THE VEHICLE STORAGE AREA ATA COST
OF $3,515 AS RECOMMENDED BY THE PUBLIC WORKS
SUPERINTENDENT
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fischer.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The Superintendent then presented a detailed budget update for the project
as outlined in his March 6, 2015 report. He noted that the master budget
for this project is $3,874,102 which does not include the land costs of
$675,000. The Superintendent gave a status report on each major project
component, indicating that costs -to -date are tracking closely with the
master budget.
The Superintendent reported that in addition to the card access control
system, the remaining portion of the security budget is for cameras.
Cabling has been run to five outdoor points on the building to cover the
perimeter as well as in the front entryway to monitor the main door.
Given the cost of these cameras, the total security system would cost
$21,010, under the $25,000 security budget. Montour felt that given the
cost was under estimate, the City should go with the optimal security
camera coverage. Torkelson asked what the retention policy was for
security feed. The Superintendent was not sure, but noted that security
camera feed will be monitored and maintained by Roseville 17'. The City
Administrator pointed out that the Little Canada information will be
maintained on the same basis as is the Roseville information.
There was then discussion of the need to run a fiber optic line from the
new Public Works shop to the City Center and to Roseville IT. The
Superintendent reported that currently a fiber line runs from the City
Center to the Watershed District building and then to Little Canada
Elementary School. The line could be extended about 2,200 feet to the
new shop at a cost of $15-$20 per foot plus splicing and building work.
Maximum cost would be about $50,000. The Superintendent reported that
there has been discussion of connecting the fire station to the fiber line as
14
