MINUTF,S
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 24, 2007
agreement for 91 West Viking Drive. The Administrator recommended
approval of the agreement subject to the City Attorney's review and
comment and any modifications requested by the property owner that both
he and the City Attorney would agree to.
Keis pointed out that once the land trades are finalized and Viking Drive is
realigned, the City will be left with a marketable piece of property that can
be sold to recoup some of the dollars spent. The City Administrator
indicated that an approximately 14,000 square foot site will be left. The
Administrator also noted that part of the cost for the Viking Drive
realignment will come from the County, MSA Funds, as well as grant
money.
Ms. Allan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2007-1-25 -APPROVING THE PURCHASE
AGREEMENT FOR 85 VIKING DRIVE SUBJECT TO ANY
CHANGES MADE BY THE CITYATTORNEY, AND SUBJECT TO
CHANGES SUGGESTED BY THE PROPERTY OWNER THAT ARE
AGREEABLE TO THE CITYATTORNEYAND CITY
ADMINISTRATOR, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY
ADMINISTRATOR TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
WORKERS The City Administrator reviewed a report from the League of Minnesota
COMP FOR Cities Insurance Trust relative to workers' compensation coverage. He
COUNCIL noted that currently the City Council is covered under an accident policy,
MEMBERS rather than under Workers' Compensation because at one time the cost to
cover the Council under Workers' Comp was substantially higher. The
League of Minnesota Cities has lowered the Workers' Comp cost making
it just slightly more than the accident coverage. Therefore, the
Administrator recommended that the accident policy not be renewed, and
that the Mayor and Council Members be covered under Workers
Compensation. The Administrator indicated that he will be doing
additional analysis of the cost/benefit to covering volunteers and
commission members under Workers' Comp/accident policies.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2007-I-26 -DISCONTINUING THE ACCIDENT
POLICY FOR THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS AND
