MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 26, 2007
enough room in the building to accommodate both the indoor auto sales as
well as auto repair. Allan agreed. Keis noted that the auto repair was
initially proposed as minor mechanical and repair work, and now the
proposal is to add a fiā¢ame straightening machine. Keis indicated that, in
his mind, with the type of equipment being proposed Voyageur would be
repairing cars that had been in serious accidents.
Leonard Liponiga, Voyageur Motors, reported that their leased building
area consists of 2,000 square feet and that the frame machine and the lift
are a little larger than a car. Liponiga indicated that they need indoor
display area for only 3 to 4 cars. Liponiga described the proposed interior
building lay out and the amount of storage space inside the building.
Keis noted that Voyageur Motors has indicated where they would place
the lift and frame straightening machines, but have not indicated where
other tools, Binders, compressors, etc. that would be needed for auto
repair work would be stored. Allan noted that the
conditions of the original CUP approval apply to Voyageur Motors, even
though the business has now been sold.
Keis was concerned about the potential for outdoor storage on the site, and
noted the need for interior display space for vehicles for sale as well as the
request to do major auto repair. Keis stated that if auto repair is done in
the building and the doors are shut and nothing can be seen from the
outside, he would not be concerned. Keis was concerned, however, that
there was be inadequate interior storage space to accommodate the uses
being proposed.
Liponiga indicated that there would be no motor replacement or
transmission work done on vehicles. They would be doing front end and
rear end work, however. Blesener noted that the proposal is for major
auto body work. Liponiga pointed out that there would be no auto
