MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 9, 2007 <br />Viking Drive from Rice to County Road B-2 -realignment and <br />reconstruction; <br />Canabury Drive from County Road B-2 to Demont Street - <br />reconstruction; <br />Boss Road -new conshuction; <br />Storm Sewer installation adjacent to Resources for Child Caring; <br />Old Fire Hall parking lot reconsh•uction. <br />Blesener pointed out the large variation in the quotes for Alternate #1 and <br />Alternate #2. The Public Works Superintendent indicated that it was his <br />understanding that the bid specifications were clearly written, but there <br />may have been some confusion on the part of some bidders. <br />It was noted that the City Engineer is recommending the award to the low <br />bidder, T. A. Schifsky and Sons, including bid Alternates #1 and #2. <br />Alternate #2 would be utilized to the extent possible for disposal of excess <br />material to adjacent sites. <br />Mr. Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOL UTION NO. 2007-5-114 -AWARDING THE LOW BID OF T. <br />A. SCHIFSKYAND SONS, INCLUDING ALTERNATES #1 AND #2, <br />INTHEAMOUNT OF $1,203,917.22 FOR 20077MPROVEMENTSAS <br />RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY ENGINEER, ACKNOWLEDGING <br />THAT THE COST MAY VARY DEPENDING ON THE EXTENT <br />THAT ALTERNATE #2 CAN BE UTILIZED AS PART OF THESE <br />PROJECTS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener. <br />Ayes (4). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />REPLACE The Public Works Superintendent reported that the Ramsey County <br />YIELD SIGNS Sheriff s Department is recommending the replacement of yield signs <br />WITH STOP along Allen Avenue at the intersections of Valento Lane, Thunder Bay <br />SIGNS - Road, and Ontario Road with stop signs. There was a recent accident <br />ALLEN at the intersection of Valento Lane and Allen Avenue, and the Sheriffls <br />AVENUE Department feels that the yield sign may have been a contributing factor to <br /> the accident. <br />The Public Works Superintendent reported that the yield signs at Valento <br />Lane and Ontario Road are for north and south bound traffic. The yield <br />signs at Thunder Bay Road are for east and west bound traffic It is <br />recommended by the Sheriffls Department that the stop signs be placed at <br />all three intersections, stopping north and south bound traffic. <br />
