The Housing Policy Plan defines affordable
housing as housing that is affordable to low-and-moderate income families. For 2015,
the affordability limit is 80% of the area median income (AMI) for both rental and
ownership housing. In 2015, the area median income for a household of four is $86,600.
Under these limits, a family of four can earn up to $65,800 to qualify for affordable
housing.

Per the System Statement, Lino Lakes’ share of the region’s need for low and moderate
income housing for the decade of 2021-2030 is 515 new units affordable to households
earning 80% of area median income (AMI) or below. In comparison, the Met Council’s
goal for 2011-2020 was 560 units.
