COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 22,1996 <br />Resolution No. 96 - 08 Ordering Preparation of Plans and Specifications for the <br />Elevated Water Storage Tank No. 2 - Mr. Ahrens explained that this resolution will <br />order plans and specifications for the City's second water storage tank to be located in the <br />Clearwater Creek area. This project is consistent with the City's Comprehensive Water <br />System Plan. The schedule call for the plans and specifications to be ordered this evening <br />and brought to the City council on February 26, 1996. <br />Mr. Ahrens explained that plans and specifications call for a water storage tank with a <br />fluted column similar to the first water storage tank. There will be space inside the base <br />for other uses such as a police substation, storage etc. Mr. Ahrens said that the potential <br />use should be decided so that the use can be included in the design. <br />Council Member Kuether moved to adopt Resolution No. 96 - 08 Ordering Plans and <br />Specifications for the Elevated Water Storage Tank No. 2 with a fluted base. Council <br />Member Neal seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Resolution No. 96-08 can be found at the end of these minutes. <br />The City Council took a break from 9:12 P.M. to 9:23 P.M. <br />CONSIDERATION OF THE YEAR END BUILDING DEPARTMENT REPORT, <br />PETER KLUEGEL <br />Mr. Kluegel explained that 1995 was a fairly busy year for the Building Department in <br />Lino Lakes. A total of 598 building permits were issued. This is 32 more than the <br />previous year. Total construction valuation was $40,636,691.00. This exceeded the 1994 <br />total by $14,000,000.00. This increased valuation was mainly attributed to the increased <br />industrial and institutional growth experienced in 1995. There were 213 new homes <br />constructed which is a decrease of four (4) from the previous year. Seventy eight (78) <br />units were the Wenzel Farms townhomes and Willow Ponds senior dwellings. The <br />average construction cost of a single family dwelling was $122,896.00. The City issued <br />16 commercial, industrial, and institutional building permits totaling $11,694,150.00. <br />This figure represents a considerable increase over the 1994 total of two (2) permits <br />valued at $172,000.00. Some of the more significant building projects in 1995 were the <br />chemical dependency building at the Minnesota Correctional Facility ($6,519,000.00), <br />the Nol Tech building, the Mag Con building and the Blue Heron building in the Apollo <br />Business park. The Living Waters Lutheran Church addition was constructed and there <br />was remodeling at the Minnesota Correctional Facility. Molin Concrete remodeled some <br />of their facility and the Oasis Market was completely reconstructed. In addition there <br />were three (3) permits issued for the Teleport facility on Holly Drive. <br />Mr. Kluegel said, in 1996, he expects the residential construction activity to equal that of <br />1995.
