Activities during October again intensified with fire prevention month. The <br />members who participated in this program went two days at each of the four <br />elementary schools. We also made an addition to our programs by adding a <br />police module for the children to attend. Lino Lakes Police and Circle <br />Pines/Lexington Police participated with us. Kindergarten through third <br />grade were rotated through four stations, subjects being: <br />1. Match & Lighter Safety <br />Testing & Placement of Smoke Detectors <br />2. Stop, Drop, & Roll exercise <br />Check door before exiting and crawling under smoke <br />3. Showed & explained fire prevention pictures <br />Miss use of extension cords, frayed or damaged wires <br />Visible addresses on houses <br />Stove safety <br />Combustibles to close to furnace & water heater <br />Lint buildup in dryers <br />4. Police when to dial 911 and practiced on phones <br />Stranger danger <br />There was a total of 82 classes (2143 students) that went through this <br />program. The firefighters worked many hours conducting this program. <br />The Life Safety Inspection of the businesses in our fire district has been a <br />steady process throughout the entire year. The main inspector is Thierry <br />Chevallier putting in many hours for the year. Marc Stark, Kathy Mischke, <br />and June Rodriguez also participated in this program as well as Dave <br />Bruder being added on towards the end of the year. By the end of 1994, <br />196 businesses have been inspected and the problems corrected and <br />verified through follow up inspections. Every business in our district has <br />been inspected. Our computerized preplans is well under way with 56 of our <br />business now in the computer. At present the following personnel are <br />involved with many hours already into the program: <br />Marc Stark, Stu Domitz, June Rodriguez <br />When all businesses have been completed the preplans will be put into <br />books and issued to all officers as well as put on every vehicle. Working <br />hand in hand with the inspectors these preplans will be updated yearly. <br />Page 4 <br />
