<br />Utilities Department - List of Job Duties <br />Water/Sewer: <br /> Daily Inspection and maintenance of 2 water towers, 6 well houses, 6 well pumps, 5 booster pumps, 13 lift <br />stations (including 13 control panels and 28 pumps) <br /> Monthly data collection and charting of all wells and lift stations usage <br /> Collect and test water samples daily for fluoride sampling <br /> Repair catch basins, valve boxes, and curbing as needed <br /> Currently 4,674 water meters. Repair, replace, rebuild, troubleshoot as needed <br /> Tabulate all water meter readings four times annually <br /> Exercise and repair 1,165 gate valves twice annually <br /> Flush, inspect, and repair 1,240 hydrants twice annually <br /> Inspect/repair 20% of sanitary manholes (1,979 total) each year <br /> Maintain 79 miles of sanitary sewer line; must clean 20% each year <br /> Conduct water/sewer hookup inspections, install and test MXU’s for all new customers <br /> Quickly respond to water main breaks <br /> Respond to water turn off/on requests <br /> Investigate customer complaints such as high consumption, low water pressure, etc. <br /> Gopher State One Call - mark city-owned utilities, curb stops, storm sewers, street light wires, irrigation systems <br />as required (4,013 in 2016) <br /> Monitor and enforce watering ban <br /> Mow and maintain turf at all water towers, well houses, and lift stations. Plow/shovel snow in winter. <br /> Operate SCADA monitoring system <br /> Issue and collect hydrant meters from contractors <br /> Chlorination of dead end lines, flushing dead end lines, shock chlorination of residential hot water tanks <br /> Collect 30 water samples every month for testing as required by MDH <br /> Prepare and submit reports as required to MDH and Met Council <br /> Create and distribute Consumer Confidence Report annually <br /> Install & remove all city irrigation meters and backflow preventers annually <br /> RPZ testing annually of all city owned backflow preventers <br /> <br />Government Buildings: <br /> Maintain cleaning equipment including floor sweepers and vacuums for City Buildings <br /> Perform snow and ice removal on parking lots/driveways/sidewalks at Civic Complex and Fire Stations <br /> Daily monitoring/adjusting of Civic Complex Boiler & HVAC System <br />Budget Work Session 7-31-17 92
