Semi Annual Report 3 January -June 1995 <br />• <br />On May 22, 116 fifth grade students from the Rice Lake <br />Elementary School graduated from the 1995 D.A.R.E. <br />class and on May 23, 73 sixth grade students from the <br />Lino Lakes Elementary School graduated from the 1995 <br />D.A.R.E. class. On May 30, a National Guard Helicopter <br />landed at Lino Lakes and Rice Lake Elementary schools. <br />Three National Guard pilots spoke with 189 students <br />from the D.A.R.E. classes. <br />DEPARTMENT MEETING: <br />Department meeting was held on January 24. Kim Sullivan was <br />present and informed the Police personnel of 20/20 Vision and the <br />meetings that were going to be taking place on January 24 and 25. <br />Officers Sal Costa and Dave Zerwas were recognized at the <br />meeting. Officer Costa for the department shoot he had conducted <br />and Officer Zerwas for recovering stolen property. <br />Department meeting was held on February 28. Topics of discussion <br />included: 1995 scheduling, squad car assignments, 1995 hiring <br />process, re -bidding of precincts, proposed hunting ordinance <br />changes and Mission Statement, Code of Ethics and Value <br />Statements. <br />Department meeting was held on March 29. Topics of discussion <br />included: Updates from Equipment Committee, D.A.R.E., <br />Investigation, Reserves, and Safe and Sober. Upcoming VFW Parade <br />and Heart Ride were discussed. We discussed the upcoming <br />application process that will be used for hiring a new officer in <br />June. We also reviewed the Mission and Value Statements and <br />reviewed the controversial topic "Ethics". <br />Department meeting was held on April 27. Topics of discussion <br />included: Updates from Equipment Committee, D.A.R.E., <br />Investigation, Reserves, and Safe and Sober. Introduced Karen <br />Bennett, Office Staff. Recognized Officer Bob Fossum for <br />interrupting a burglary in progress which resulted in the arrest <br />of two people for possession of controlled substance. We <br />discussed the Wellness Program, Crime Free Multi Housing, Public <br />Safety Citizen Academy, the VFW Parade and Heartride. <br />Department meeting was held on May 25. Topics of discussion <br />included: Updates from Equipment Committee, D.A.R.E., <br />Investigation, Reserves, Wellness Program and Safe and Sober. <br />Went over: Domestic Abuse Policy and Senior Officer Police. <br />Provided update on Hunting Ordinance. Provided update on Hiring <br />Process. Officers then received a call of a barricaded gunman, <br />at the 6400 block of Hokah Drive. Meeting was adjourned and <br />several officers responded to the call. Gunman was apprehended <br />without injuries and transported to Ramsey Hospital for evaluation. <br />
