(3) March 13, 1974
Mr. Starr agreed there was a possibility of this and if the changed seemed war-
ranted, this plan could be changed to reflect this. This Plan is just a guide
and nothing proposed here is a hard and fast rule - all things are fjmxiable.
Mr. Hill said at the time the land was being considered for commercial zoning,
the owners were very upset. They wanted it left in agricultural.
i1r. McLean had no questions.
Mr. Nadeau disagreed with the interchange at slain Street and I35W. He felt this
was not conducive to good City Planning.
"1r. Karth thought a closed interchange at that intersection would be costly to
the City. It would be harder to maintain our street - would be a deterant to the
Fire Department in getting from one side of the City to the other.
'1r. Karth felt the City should object to an interchange at that point. An
-.nterchange would also make the open space more accessiable.
Mr. Zelinka felt with a closed interchange at that intersection, it would force
the traffic for the open space to go through the City.
Mr. L'Allier asked about a dotted line in the North East part of the City.
Mr. Starr explained this was a proposal by the City Engineer and was an extension
of Main Street that would intersect with 80th. There is some areas of soils in
the area of this extension that is not conducive to highway construction.
Mr. L'Allier questioned the interchange at SOth and I35E.
Mr. Starr answered that at the present time the Highway Department has no plans
for an interchange at that intersection. However, the Metropolitian Council
suggested continued talks with the Highway Department and the neighboring com-
munities.
Mr. Zelinka understood that at the time of construction, the site sewer system
at the Youth Center had a projected life span of just so many years and at the
end of that time, it should be able to connect with an interceptor. Did Mr. Starr
have any information on this?
Mr. Starr said that he did not, however, the comprehensive land use plan in no
way conflicts with the proposed comprehensive sewer plan.
Mr. Shearen and Mr. Rothbauer had no questions at this time.
Mr. Hill asked the percentage of lands that are proposed to be used as commercial.
Mr. Starr though about five per cent (5%).
;qtr. Hill asked about the pocket of commercial lands just North of 135W and East
of Sunset Avenue.
