<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 1F <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Julie Bartell, City Clerk <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: January 14, 2013 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Approving Application for an Exempt Raffle <br />Event for Lino Lakes Elementary School <br /> <br />VOT E REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Lino Lakes Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has applied for <br />permission to conduct a raffle at their school carnival event. The event is scheduled for March <br />23, 2013. Non -profit organizations are allowed, under the State Gambling Statutes, to conduct <br />exempt gambling (raffle) with a state issued permit if they conduct lawful gambling on five or <br />fewer days and remain under a cap for prizes awarded. Lino Lakes Elementary PTO has <br />submitted the inf ormation necessary to determine that their event is exempt. <br /> <br />The application and background check information is on file in City Clerk’s office. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Approve the issuance of Exempt Raffle Event f or Lino Lakes Elementary School.
