COUNCIL MINUTES June 11, 2018 W-10MMAL 80 Council Member Stoesz noted that this position is unpaid, includes twelve meetings per year, and it 81 represents an organization that does a good job representing cities in the state. He asks for the council's 82 support. 83 Council Member Manthey moved to approve Resolution No. 18-71 as presented. Council Member 84 Maher seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote; Council Member Stoesz abstained from 85 voting. 86 311) Consider Appointment of Paid On -Call Fire Lieutenant — Human Resources Manager 87 Bartholomew reviewed the written report, including the process that brings the candidate forward and 88 the recommendation to hire Mr. Craig Menne. 89 Council Member Manthey moved to approve the appointment of Craig Menne as recommended. 90 Council Member Maher seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. 91 3C) Consider Appointment of Police Officer —Human Resources Manager Bartholomew 92 reviewed the recommendation to hire Mr. Garrett Ellertson to the position of Police Officer for the 93 city. She reviewed the candidate's qualifications, the selection process and the staff hiring 94 recommendation. 95 Council Member Manthey moved to approve the appointment of Garrett Ellertson as recommended. 96 Council Member Stoesz seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. 97 3D) Consider Resolution 18-76, Liquor Compliance Violation —City Clerk Bartell reported that 98 earlier in the evening, the council held a liquor compliance hearing to consider liquor code violations 99 reported at the Don Julio Mexican Restaurant. The results of that hearing are that the board 100 recommended civil penalities of $2,000 and a 10-day liquor license suspension. That recommendation 101 is forwarded for formal council consideration. 102 Council Member Rafferty and Maher asked if they should automatically abstain from voting since they 103 missed the hearing. Staff suggested that wouldn't be necessary if the council members are comfortable 104 voting for the board's recommendation. 105 Council Member Manthey moved to approve Resolution No. 18-76 as presented. Council Member 106 Maher seconded the motion.
