9 <br />provide additional information to Lino Lakes Officers regarding suspects involved in <br />drug activity and other crimes in Lino Lakes. <br /> <br />The TFO has been able to provide intelligence bulle tins and information related to drug <br />trafficking activities and trends. <br /> <br />The TFO obtained access for officers from the Lino Lake s Police Department to DICE, a <br />telephone database. This database allows officers to link suspects involved in criminal <br />activity in Lino Lakes. <br /> <br />DEA personnel and equipment, such as surveillance equipment, are available to the Lino <br />Lakes Police Department for officers to work collaboratively with the DEA to investigate <br />suspects in Lino Lakes. <br /> <br />The DEA TFO is a point of contact fo r Lino Lakes Officers to further coordinate with <br />other agencies and resources, including: <br /> <br /> -the Anoka/Hennepin Drug Task Force <br /> -other State/Local Drug Task Forces <br /> -MN Police Departments/Sheriff’s Office <br /> -BCA <br /> -Fusion/Intelligence centers <br /> -Federal Ag encies: HSI, ATF, DEA, U.S. Marshals Services, FDA, IRS <br /> -U.S. Postal Service <br /> <br />The DEA TFO position allows the Lino Lakes Police Department to contribute to <br />investigations involving large drug trafficking organizations which supply Minnesota <br />communities, i ncluding Lino Lakes, with drugs. <br /> <br />During the 2012 fiscal year, investigations conducted by the DEA Minneapolis/St. Paul <br />District Office resulted in 200 arrests, the seizure of $5,249,628 in money and assets, and <br />the seizure of 4.2 kilograms of heroin, 20.8 kilograms of cocaine, 30.8 kilograms of <br />marijuana, and 19.5 kilograms of methamphetamine. <br /> <br />In 2012/2013, the DEA and the TFO investigated two suspects that had rece ived <br />s hipments of K hat at a hotel in Lino Lakes. The DEA provided the intelligence gained <br />during the investigation to other federal law enforcement agencies which were <br />conducting international investig ations into the trafficking of K hat into the United States. <br /> <br />The DEA, the Anoka Hennepin Drug Task Force, and other agencies have conducted a <br />mul ti -year investigation into numerous heroin overdoses and overdose deaths in the <br />Anoka County area. In 2010 , a resident in Lino Lakes died of a heroin overdose. In <br />2012, the investigation led to federal indictments and the arrest of multiple individuals <br />involved in supplyin g heroin to the metro area; this investigation is ongoing. <br /> <br />The DEA has been investigating multiple stores and individuals selling synthetic drugs in <br />the metro and greater Minnesota area. Synthetic drug use has resulted in overdoses a nd <br />overdose deaths. In 2010, the Lino Lakes Police department encountered a female that
