CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 4A <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Swenson, Public Safety Director <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: August 13, 2018 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Donation of Seized Property <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The City of Lino Lakes Ordinance 213.07 authorizes the Public Safety Department to dispose <br />of unclaimed property in a manner authorized by a majority vote of the City Council. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />As part of the continued management of police division property and evidence room, staff <br />identified the below listed bicycles for disposal: <br /> <br />1. 17276505 – Bicycle serial number 8NF8013E27580 <br />2. 18061259 – Bicycle serial number SL03367184 <br />3. 17251327 – Bicycle serial number CB160109 <br />4. 17285437 – Bicycle serial number SL03930696 <br />5. 17206706 – Bicycle serial number N970300581 <br />6. 17180368 – Bicycle serial number P3DG03218 <br />7. 17189158 – Bicycle serial number DWHD058277 <br /> <br />All related court and investigative matters have been completed. Staff has complied with all <br />statuary obligations to notify all concerned parties and received no communications related to <br />any of these cases or the related property. <br /> <br />To eliminate the expense of destroying any of the bicycles, staff is requesting they be donated <br />to the non-profit organization Bikes for Kids in Ham Lake, MN or Free Bikes for Kids in Long <br />Lake, MN in memory of Jim Livingston the first police chief of Lino Lakes <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Authorize the Public Safety Department to donate the listed bicycles to the non-profit <br />organization Bikes for Kids or Free Bikes for Kids. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />None
