<br />5/29/2019 27 <br /> <br /> <br />In addition to project reviews, projects to be brought to the Environmental Board <br />include a wide spectrum of topics, some that surface because of merging issue, some <br />to educate the Environmental Board so that they can make educated decisions, <br />recommendations, and comments. Some are simply update reports for <br />Environmental, Forestry, or Solid Waste issues. <br /> <br />During warmer months, field trips are scheduled before the regular meeting to look at <br />previous completed projects. <br />A1.2 PROJECT MANAGEMENT <br /> Staff assists with local project initiatives and coordination with adjacent jurisdictions. <br />A1.3 BOARDS/COMMITTEE AFFILIATIONS <br /> Anoka Conservation District 2020-2029 <br />Anoka County Cooperative Weed Management <br />Anoka County Solid Waste Abatement Advisory Team (SWAAT) <br />Anoka County Solid Waste Management (SWAC) – Monthly meetings held at <br />Bunker Hills on the 3rd Wednesday of each month <br />Anoka County Water Resources Task Force <br />Anoka County Wellhead Protection Group <br />Minnesota Shade Tree Task Force <br />Rice Creek Watershed District Technical Evaluation Panel (RCWD TEP) <br />Vadnais Lake Area Water Management Organization – Technical Commission <br />(VLAWMO TEC) – Monthly meetings <br />A1.4 SHORT RANGE PLANNING <br /> Staff undertakes a number of projects initiated by advisory boards and/or city council <br />to address implementation of the comprehensive plan, changes in state law, or city <br />policy changes. <br />A1.5 GIS <br /> Staff maintains the Geographic Information System database and mapping for natural <br />resources and forestry including rare plant and animal populations, restoration areas, <br />diseased trees, and well head protection. Keep an updated map of new trees planted, <br />wetland delineations, conservation easement signs and wetland buffer signs. Process <br />GIS data to Cartegraph for trees. <br />A1.6 GRANTS <br /> Keep a look out for grants that can help with Environmental including surface water <br />and forestry. <br /> <br />Recycling is one large grant. <br />A1.7 TRACK ASSETS <br /> Track the condition and status of stormwater structures, prairie areas and tree health <br />throughout the year. Most of this is done on the go or in response to a resident <br />inquiry. <br /> <br />
