Officer Costa was asked if he had any difficulties working for Chief <br />Myhre. Officer Costa said that Chief Myhre is easy to work for. They <br />have had their disagreements but he can talk to Chief Myhre and things <br />get worked out. Not always as Officer Costa would like, but Chief <br />Myhre deals fairly with all the Officers. <br />Mr. Johnson asked if there were any problems between the Police Department <br />and the Administration offices. <br />Mayor Bohjanen said not recently. Mr. Johnson asked if the offices <br />were running smoothly. Mayor Bohjanen said they were. Problems are <br />dealt with as they arise. <br />Mr. Kammer moved to affirm Mr. Marvin Myhre as permanent full time Police <br />Chief. Seconded by Mr. Cartier. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Chief Myhre was asked if he is still working at Applebaums and he said <br />he was not. <br />Since Mr. Jaworski had to leave early he was asked for his comments on <br />the performance of Mr. Volk. Mr. Zelinka read the minutes of Sept. 9, <br />1974 when Mr. Volk was hired. <br />Mr. Jaworski asked that the Commission and the Council remember that Mr. <br />Volk came on the job cold. He had no instructions and no background on <br />what was expected of that position. Mr. Jaworski felt that Mr. Volk <br />does a good job considering the lack of experience. <br />Mr. Marier said that in March of 1975 a short/long range plan had been <br />requested and he asked where it was. Mr. Jaworski said that it is not <br />ready. Mr. Marier said that Mr. Volk could not be reached by phone in <br />several emergencies because of an unlisted phone number and during the <br />February storm it had taken two days to get the streets plowed out. <br />Mr. Jaworski did not understand the problem of contacting Mr. Volk, he <br />had always been able to contact him.. <br />Mr. Marier said the last storm in March had taken three days to open the <br />roads, this had never happened before. Mr. Jaworski said it took more <br />time to clear not because of the men not working but because of the <br />nature of the storm. <br />Mr. Marier said in the last storm who had helped to clear the roads? <br />the Power Company, Water -Department and the County. <br />There was discussion on Mr. Volk's handling of the repair of roads. Mr. <br />Marier felt that there.has been no follow up on the patching. Mr. Volk <br />said that the entire City had been patched once and about 3/4ths of the <br />streets for the second time. Mr. Cartier felt there is a lack of <br />communication here. Mr. Marier said that Mr. Volk can't be reached <br />he should be on the job making plans and communicating back to the <br />Council. <br />Mr. Johnson asked why the snow removal took so long - was it a lack <br />of personnel or equipment? Mr. Volk said that if the Commission or <br />the Council would refer back to the time Cards, he felt they would <br />find that the crews were on the streets early and late. <br />
