Well House No. 7 Feasibility Study
City of Lino Lakes, MN
WSB Project No. 013434-000 Page 7
5. CONCEPT
The concept is to retain the front portion of the house and demolish the rear section. In other words, the
rectangular block facing the front (or the street) would remain. The not-as-visible rear block would be
removed and the brick reused for a new addition, as is possible. The remaining front of the house would
be secured and relocated at the same site but to a new location. Prior to the move, a new foundation
would be constructed at its new location and the relocated house set in place. The new equipment, well
and addition would be installed but it is not certain yet if this takes place before or after the move.
The new addition would include all new well equipment and would be moved to where the new well is
constructed. The original house structure would be modified and renovated and would contain associated
storage areas. The upper floor of the original structure would be abandoned except that existing window
openings would be used for ventilation purposes, as shown on the renderings in Appendix C.
It is anticipated that, once a renovation is complete, the building would look very similar to the way it
appears today except that it would have a fresher appearance. Since the structure is not on any historic
register, a full restoration is not needed. Plus, since National Registration in particular does not allow for
relocated buildings, this is a moot point.
Since the new addition of the house would include all of the well equipment, MDH stated that they would
not oppose this type of construction as long as it is secure and meets the requirements of a well house in
accordance with the Minnesota Well Code and Recommended 10 States Standards.
