The ordinance was drafted by Attorney Mike 64 <br />Bradley who reported to the council in August on the contents of the ordinance. Mr. Karlson 65 <br />reviewed the type and locations where facilities could appear. An ordinance is necessary because 66 <br />wireless companies have federal and state rights for these facilities. He noted the changes that have 67 <br />been recommended since the last council review; they were requested by Verizon and approved by 68 <br />the City’s legal counsel. 69 <br />Council Member Maher moved to approve the first reading of Ordinance No. 01-19 as presented. 70 <br />Council Member Stoesz seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. 71 <br />3B) Consider Appointment of Environmental Coordinator – Human Resources Manager 72 <br />Karissa Bartholomew reviewed staff’s recommendation that the council hire Andrew Nelson to fill 73 <br />the soon to be vacated position of Environmental Coordinator. She reviewed Mr. Nelson’s 74 <br />education and experience. 75 <br />Council Member Maher moved to approve the appointment of Andrew Nelson as recommended. 76 <br />Council Member Stoesz seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. 77 <br /> 78 <br />Consider Appointment of Police Officer – Human Resources Manager Karissa Bartholomew 79 <br />reviewed staff’s recommendation that the council hire Matthew Carlson to fill a vacant police officer 80 <br />position. She reviewed Mr. Carlson’s education and experience. 81 <br />Council Member Maher moved to approve the appointment of Matthew Carlson as recommended. 82 <br />Council Member Rafferty seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. 83 <br /> 84 <br />PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT REPORT 85 <br /> 86 <br />A) Consider Sale of Fire Pagers – Public Safety Director Swenson reviewed his written report 87 <br />requesting authorization to sell a total of 40 fire pagers to three fire departments in Minnesota. The 88 <br />fire pagers were purchased in 2015 and Anoka has since provided new fire pagers to the City 89 <br />making these pagers obsolete. The pagers were listed for sale and offers have been received in the 90 <br />amount of $200 per unit. 91 <br /> 92
