Park Board
January 5,, 1987
Page Two
Mr. Volk suggested the Board members think about this for discussion
at the February meeting. It was also generally felt that Mrs . Sullivan
should be given time to finish her plans for the development of the
parks .
Mrs . Sullivan presented her report (there is a portion of the tapes at
this point I could not understand)
Mrs . Sullivan reviewed her work to this point for the benefit of the
new members . Also, presented her goals for preserving the land as is
and not to destroy the beauty of the land . She presented several areas
outside of Lino Lakes that is developed along the lines she is suggest-
ing for Country Lakes Park.
There was discussion on the manner in which Mrs . Sullivan had suggested
for parking - Mr. Volk felt the parking should be more compact - several
areas accomadating a numner of cars rather than individual parking spots
scattered all around. Mr . Volk felt this would present a problem for
the police department in the area of patrolling the area .
The first thing to be settled should be the parking lot for the boat
launch area . This should be limited to approximately 15 cars and boat
trailers . There should be approximately 50 to 75 parking spaces for
park users .
There was discussion as to where the rest room s should be located -
it was generally felt they should be approximately half way between the
beach and the playground/picnic areas .
Mr. Volk presented Mr. Bob Kline -- a playground equipment salesman . Mr .
Kline presented a slide program on various pieces of equipment that is
available from his company - the Miracle Park Equipment . All members
of the Park Board have copies of the brochure from this company .
Mr. Kline presented some of the various park equipment noting the safety
factor built into the design . This equipment is constructed of red
wood. He noted the combination of wood and-metal in some of the
equipment creating an effect of wood construction but with the areas of
heavy usage, such as steps , decks , etc. , being constructed of metal for
durability .
Mr. Volk felt this equipment is excellent as to safety , durability and
maintenance .
Mr. Kline suggested as an addition to the equipment in Sunrise Park, a
wooden structure and add a pony swing and merry-go-round for the pre-
schoolers - add a tunnel slide for the older children . The suggested
equipment was pointed out in the catalog that was available for
each member.
In the City Hall Park there should be one area for a tot lot and one
area for the school age children . The suggested equipment for each
area was discussed , with the fact that this type of equipment can be
added to at any time .
i
