Page Two - February 16, 1976
using the existing roadways. It is just a matter of putting up
signs noting the route of the bike trail .
Mr. Scherer felt that with the limited width of most of the exist-
ing road ways, a bike trail along them would create a safety
hazard.
There was a letter from Anoka County asking for a member to work
with them on the creation of a bike trail system throughout Anoka
County. Mr. Schneider suggested that someone be appointed to work
with this Commission on the study.
Mr. Ringaman wondered if the propsed system for Lino Lakes Ahould
be left as iB and this Board should wait for more information
from Anoka County in order to coordinate what is planned for this
area and what Anola County may have in mind.
Mr. Scherer asked if this bike trail system will be part of the
Open Sp#ce area? He also wondered if the planning of the system
should' be the responsibility of the Park Board or should it be the
responsibility of the Road Department.
Mr. Ringaman volunteered to contact Anoka County and ascertain the
status of the proposed bike trail network. He said if this in-
volved meetings, he would have to ask someone else to take over.
He doesn' t have the time to attend meetings.
Mrs. Liljedahl moved to appoint Mr. Ringaman to the position of
checking the bike trail proposal as being designed by Anoka County.
This appointmmnt to be on a temporary basis. Seconded by Mr.
Scherer. Motion carried.
After some discussion, the following persons were assigned to over-
see the different Parks;
Mr. Ringaman and Mr. Olson will be in charge of Sunrise Park;
Mr. Resch and Mrs. Liljedahl will work with the Hall Park;
Mr. Hanson and Mr. Scherer will check on Lino Park;
A'r. Gredvig will work with the LaMotte Park.
The subject of allowing soft ball tournaments to be held in Sunrise
Park on weekends was discussed. Since Ordinance #61 forbids the
consumption of liquor any .,41ace in the Park and only allows 3. 2
beer in the picaic ares, there was discussion on how these tourna-
ments could be allowed. Mr. Resch felt it was necessary for this
Board to set some guide lines. He asked that each member write
their thoughts on this matter. This would include the fees to be
charged and where the monies collected should be used. These ideas
could then be formulated into a recommendation for presentation to
the Council .
Mr. Ringaman felt If the members had their ideas formulated for the
March meeting of this Board, then the recommendation could be ready
before the season opens. He felt that the pr1drities of the Park
Department should be established at the March meeting. The Board
gas in agreement.
