MARCH 17, 1975
-2-
The question of how space is utilized at Sunrise Park arose - is there
any un-used space or poorly used space that might be better used to
help eliminate some of the problems that are being experienced at that
location. Mr. Clausen said he did not feel that any space.-was left
un-used or poorly used. He said that the nets are stored in the building
before games and brought out for the games and then the players change
into their skates and after the games the nets are returned. The problem
at Sunrise Park is not enough space for all the players that use the
warming house.
Mr. Resch said if there was a rink put in at the Hall Park then the Forest
Lake Hockey Assoc. would want to use it and he would rather see the size
of the building cut rather than eliminating some of the facilities.
Mrs. LeTourneau asked if there was a definite need for 2 rinks at the
Hall Park, especially if there are no plans to install lights at this
time.
Mr. Pesch said that i+ the rinks were not going to be lighted then the
hockey players would not ba able to use them except during the week-ends
when it was light enough to play without lights.
If there are no ; fights, then a warming house and a new pump would not
be needed at the Hall Park right now - there would not be enough use
of the rinks as they could only be used for pleasure skating not hockey
playing.
Mr. McLean suggested that the Board set an order of priorities for the
Park System right now so that the work could be planned according to
the budget. The Board cams up with the following:
1. Upgrade the well at Sunrise Park
2. Put in ball diamonds at Hall Park, including
a new backstop where it is needed.
3. Put in a backstop at Llno Park.
4. Install toilet facilities at the Hall Park.
5. Install a well at the Hall Park.
6. Install hocky rink at Hall Park.
The Clerk was asked to contact Mr. Gotwald and have him submit prices
for a 10' x 241 toilet facility with a flat roof that could be added onto
at a later date. Also heating sources are to be included In this estimate.
He is to include at least two sources of heat other than gas - possibly
electric or radiant heat.
A discussion of what needs to be done at the parks to geihem ready for
the coming season was next.
At Sunrise Park the only things that needs to be done is the diamonds will
have to be cleaned off and tha grass mowed as requir^d during the Sumner.
