CITY OF LINO LAKES PARK BOARD MEETING MONDAY, OCTOBER 3, 1994 of a portable boarder patrol system. He is looking into the cost of these two methods. There was discussion about the bituminous overlay and the pro' s and con' s to this method. (ie. ice melt from sun on a dark surface. ) The board thought the new rink at City Hall Park might be a good location because of the new building and because it is a heavily used park. Marty asked if this could be researched and then report back to the Park Board at the next meeting. Marty also mentioned that he had met with Nick Eloff and Lisa Gilliland and they were impressed with the 194 City Earth Day Celebration and wanted the city to get involved in their Fall Festival at the Wargo Nature Center. Marty would like to use the nature center for future programs, such as maple syruping and orienteering. C. Friends of the Park: Marty explained he had taken the minutes at the last Friends of the Park meeting and he felt there was a lot of positive things that happened at the meeting. A motion was passed that would allow city staff to expend up to $30/plaque for 3 recognition plaques. He also mentioned a ,.� donation that was given by Ace Solid Waste in the amount of $670 . These monies were to be used for new neighborhood parks requests on a cost match basis and $100 was to be used for the SNAC Program at Rice Lake Elementary Park. Marty explained that a motion authorizing Marty to spend up to $1000 for the Little League irrigation project at Sunrise Park, ballfield #4, consistent with the intent of the designated donation, and upon approval by the Park Board had been passed. MOTION: Joe Schmidt made a motion that the Park Board authorize Marty Asleson to spend the money, from the Friends of the Park, for the irrigation system and the plaque dedicated to the Little League. The motion was seconded by Pam Taschuk and passed unanimously. George asked if some of the neighborhood parks could request money from the Friends of the Park as long as they had matching funds. Marty said yes, the Friends of the Park Committee is looking for neighborhood involvement and ways to get their funds visible in the community. D. 1995 Goal Session: Marty gave an overview of the goal setting session held on September 22, 1994 . He stated that since the Comprehensive Park Plan was approved in 1992 the Park Board had taken goals and priorities and looked at new Park and Recreation issues that have come up.
