CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> PARK BOARD MEETING <br /> MONDAY, OCTOBER 3, 1994 <br /> of a portable boarder patrol system. He is looking into the cost <br /> of these two methods. There was discussion about the bituminous <br /> overlay and the pro' s and con' s to this method. (ie. ice melt <br /> from sun on a dark surface. ) The board thought the new rink at <br /> City Hall Park might be a good location because of the new <br /> building and because it is a heavily used park. Marty asked if <br /> this could be researched and then report back to the Park Board <br /> at the next meeting. <br /> Marty also mentioned that he had met with Nick Eloff and Lisa <br /> Gilliland and they were impressed with the 194 City Earth Day <br /> Celebration and wanted the city to get involved in their Fall <br /> Festival at the Wargo Nature Center. Marty would like to use the <br /> nature center for future programs, such as maple syruping and <br /> orienteering. <br /> C. Friends of the Park: Marty explained he had taken the <br /> minutes at the last Friends of the Park meeting and he felt there <br /> was a lot of positive things that happened at the meeting. A <br /> motion was passed that would allow city staff to expend up to <br /> $30/plaque for 3 recognition plaques. He also mentioned a <br /> ,.� donation that was given by Ace Solid Waste in the amount of $670 . <br /> These monies were to be used for new neighborhood parks requests <br /> on a cost match basis and $100 was to be used for the SNAC <br /> Program at Rice Lake Elementary Park. Marty explained that a <br /> motion authorizing Marty to spend up to $1000 for the Little <br /> League irrigation project at Sunrise Park, ballfield #4, <br /> consistent with the intent of the designated donation, and upon <br /> approval by the Park Board had been passed. <br /> MOTION: Joe Schmidt made a motion that the Park Board authorize <br /> Marty Asleson to spend the money, from the Friends of the Park, <br /> for the irrigation system and the plaque dedicated to the Little <br /> League. The motion was seconded by Pam Taschuk and passed <br /> unanimously. <br /> George asked if some of the neighborhood parks could request <br /> money from the Friends of the Park as long as they had matching <br /> funds. Marty said yes, the Friends of the Park Committee is <br /> looking for neighborhood involvement and ways to get their funds <br /> visible in the community. <br /> D. 1995 Goal Session: Marty gave an overview of the goal <br /> setting session held on September 22, 1994 . He stated that since <br /> the Comprehensive Park Plan was approved in 1992 the Park Board <br /> had taken goals and priorities and looked at new Park and <br /> Recreation issues that have come up. Marty said it is important <br /> that the board revisits the goals, priorities, schedules and <br /> 4 <br />
